In The Snail Who Forgot the Mail, the king is having a party and a snail is the woods' postman. When he arrives at the palace he realises he has left the mailed gifts at his house. The king of course jumps to the wrong conclusion with an angry response.The author has taken the time to format the book so the pictures display together with the text on the screen like a physical picture book, but for some reason they've formatted it so it displays in portrait mode (holding your device vertically) instead of landscape when the pages themselves seem like they should be wider than they are tall and appear squashed. There's a thick rectangle of white at the top and bottom of the page, so the book only takes up the middle of the screen on your Kindle Fire or whatever device you are using.
Adler's writing style is fresh and filled with prose. This is a melodic read especially for just-before-bedtime, but this is now one of my favorite books to read to my son. The imagery is colorful and vibrant, the story filled with unusual characters. I liked the moral lesson imparted at the end of the book -- that if you wait before you act, you may be surprised by what happens. Even the small folk can influence people in higher positions. I'll be looking forward to more of Adler's books.
This short story is full of value and morals that everyone needs to be reminded of or taught. The snail was very optimistic and confident! We are reminded that when we live in fear like the monster king, you are more prone to anger and intolerance.The world needs more books and programming like this! Awesome job, Sigal Adler! I highly recommend this book for kids of all ages including, YOU! Cheers! :)
I thoroughly enjoy reading these type of children books, for they always teach my children an important life lesson in a simple and easy way that they can understand. It's important for children today to have morals, and the only way that they will obtain them is if they are taught from a young age.
This was such an excellent story! My children (6-8yrs) were home sick this past week so I opted to pick this up and read it to them. They loved the story and became very animated with it. The bright colors and pictures caught my son Corbin's attention the most. (He tends to be a little artist himself.) As a parent I loved it because I could tell the author had clear intent with the story and verse. The story teaches the virtue of having patience which is something my twin 6 year old boys lack. LOL, I will be reading this to them often.
The author Adler has a way of zeroing in on what I would call virtues. I've read several of her books now and there is always some sort of lesson for us no matter how old we are. I've read all of them to my little grand kids and they seem to resonate with these lessons. They're pretty subtle and certainly not in your face types of lessons. The rhyming, song-like cadence is wonderful.
The story is short, simple and very entertaining because of its colorful pictures. The kids will surely love this book and will learn good values and morals about patience, politeness, staying calm, to think first before you act and learn to hear what other people have to say. It is indeed fun to read.
I I liked this book. I thought it was well- written and thought out! A great story really for all ages! There really was not any thing about this book that would prove to be unreadable for children or anyone for that fact! I gave this book five stars for a great book with a great moral that 's great for anybody!I recommend this book as I just mentioned for anyone because even grownups can seem to have the sma problems as this Monster King had.Great work Sigal!
